Formerly known as WhosOnLocation. Customers who have worked with us over the years will know this platform by that name. MRI Software acquired WhosOnLocation in March 2021 and renamed it MRI OnLocation. Same platform, same Australian team supporting it.
The story behind MRI OnLocation
MRI OnLocation began in Wellington, New Zealand in 2012, founded by Darren Whitaker-Barnett under the name WhosOnLocation. The idea came from a real evacuation. During a fire drill at a New Zealand energy company, staff found the visitor sign-in book left upstairs, and two people were unaccounted for inside the building. That gap between a paper system and a genuine emergency is the reason the platform exists.
By March 2021, when MRI Software acquired the company, WhosOnLocation was managing nearly 5,000 facilities for 1,600 customers across 46 countries, with established operations in Australia, the UK, Europe, Canada and the US. The product was renamed MRI OnLocation. Its architecture and features carried across unchanged.
