Why is it important to induct your contractors?

As a contractor working in manufacturing, it is essential to understand the safety protocols and procedures in place within the facility. That’s why undergoing a comprehensive contractor induction is necessary before starting any work.

The induction process provides an opportunity for both the contractor and the manufacturing company to discuss the details of the job, the equipment, and the safety measures that need to be taken. It enables the contractor to familiarise themselves with the working environment, the policies, and procedures, as well as the machinery and equipment they will use.

During the induction, contractors will likely receive training in various aspects of safety, including hazard identification and risk assessments, emergency response procedures, personal protective equipment requirements, and more. The goal is to equip the contractor with the necessary knowledge and skills to work safely and efficiently.

In addition to helping contractors work safely, a thorough induction will also demonstrate the manufacturing company’s commitment to safety. It will show that the company is taking appropriate steps to mitigate risks, ensuring that the contractor is well-trained and fully informed about the site’s safety requirements.

To ensure a successful induction it’s essential to ask questions, to confirm the information is clear and understood or if they need further clarification and information.

Using digital online inductions allows organisations the ability to send them to contractors to complete remotely before they arrive onsite to allow for a quick and smooth sign in process and commencement of work.

In conclusion, contractor inductions are an important aspect of working in manufacturing. They help create a safer work environment, promote better understanding and communication between the contractor and company, and ensure that everyone is aware of the necessary safety protocols. By taking the time to complete a thorough induction, contractors can work safely and confidently knowing that the company is committed to their safety.

Contractor Onboarding, what does this even mean?  There are multiple components to onboarding a contractor, I will dive in below… Organisations or suppliers – Organisations are the companies that provide services to your company.  Commonly organisations or suppliers will provide to your company insurances to confirm they are insured should anything go wrong while they provide a service. Some companies will need to hold more insurance coverage than others.  Most common in Australia for example is Public Liability Insurance, Professional Indemnity Insurance, Business Insurance, and Workers Compensation Insurance. Contractors or […]

One of the most common requirements for customers today managing contractors before any compliance comes into play like inductions, insurances, licenses and more is the simple sign in and sign out process. I have been involved in Time & Attendance for more than 20 years and know wherever there is a manual timesheet system contractors generally are the winners at the end of the day. Some common examples include… Contractor turns up at 7:05 but writes 7:00 – multiply this by thousands of contractors and it all adds up. 2000 […]

Visitor Management meets Webhooks

Webhooks while easy to set up still need some understanding especially if you are a newbie and have never set up a webhook before. Webhooks allow you to pull data out of the visitor management system as it happens, an API, for example, needs instructions on how to collect and how frequently to collect data and is always coded. Webhooks allow you to push data live as it happens from the visitor management software into other systems without code. I can confirm I am a newbie to Webhooks however I have […]

When asked we always share that integration to an access control system really only works if you have turnstiles or speed gates. Why integrate your visitor management system with access control? Number 1 reason is to have all the employee on site registered in the evacuation module. Problem is one person can swipe and open a door and 3 people can walk through the door behind the person that […]
