Over the past 10 years, we have been asked to gather a lot of different types of data depending on the country the customer is based. One that has popped up more frequently is the International Traffic in Arms RegulationĀ (ITAR)
ITAR is a United States regulatory regime to restrict and control the export of defense and military-related technologies to safeguard U.SĀ national security and further U.S. foreign policy objectives.
Without going deep into the regulations some common requirements are coming up with customers who are currently collecting the information manually via a manual visitor sign-in book. Information that is required includes the visitor’s name, mobile phone number, and nationality. There are several ways to ask the same question around Nationality when moving to an electronic visitor management system.
I will give some examples below
Asking a visitor what nationality they are is a free text field allowing the visitor to type their nationality.
Asking a visitor to confirm if they are from one of the banned countries can trigger a process alerting the appropriate people the person signing in has just indicated they are from one of the ITAR banned countries
No matter the information you need to gather when a person signs into your location we have the ability to create the question required to gather the information.
Need to gather information at your location to comply with ITAR?
