I read an article today about a Visitor Management system being implemented into a school overseas…the article explained how visitors will wear photo ID visitor passes. The article went on to say that “visitors to the school in the evening for community events and programs would not use the system”, the article finished with “Some sort of plan will also be needed as to how to handle contractors”
Why would you put a visitor management system in place in your school and only monitor half of the visitors? …..I am gobsmacked that you would not monitor contractors into the school.
The recent BER program spent over 16 billion dollars with thousands of contractors working on school grounds every day. Every day contractors attend schools to clean, fix lights, maintain the grounds, fix computers, run the canteen, run music and scripture classes, extra curriculum activities and more. I have volunteered myself to help out with school events for my kids, some of the teachers know me but many don’t. Visitors into schools including parents and contractors should as a minimum wear a visitor pass allowing all visitors to easily been recognised by any teacher on the grounds.
How can a Visitor Management system help your school?
- A Visitor Management system can create unique photo ID visitor passes for all visitors including parents, contractors and any other unknown person visiting the school.
- A Visitor Management system helps schools to track the number of hours volunteers, parents, contractors contribute working with students each day.
- A Visitor Management system will help your school to monitor the hours and number of people that may be using your school after hours including the local Judo class, cleaners, contractors and more
- A Visitor Management system will give you electronic historical information that you can call on any time in the future
- A Visitor Management system will give you a helicopter view of all your schools and campus across the country with multiple locations.
- A Visitor Management system will allow students, teachers, visitors, contractors and any other person attending your school/s to sign in and out for evacuation reporting.
- Take an iPad on school excursions checking kids into and out of the event away from school.
