Keeping the public safe from your construction site with a Turnstile

Keeping the public safe from construction sites can be a nightmare, sometimes with multiple entry points it can be very difficult to keep the public safe, the most common way the public are kept safe is with full time security staff manning entrance points. Every person who runs a construction site knows the largest single cost over the length of the project will be labour.

How can you reduce labour without reducing safety?

Lets say a full time security guard cost $65,000 a year and your project ran for 18 months. Already just the cost of the security guard has gone north of 90,000 dollars. Include two entrance points that could be open to the public and we are well on our way to $200,000 just for a couple of security staff to stop the public from entering your construction site. Now add 2 shifts of security guards for 24 hour security, keeping the public safe from your construction site has just gone over $350,000. Sure your project may be worth tens of millions but wouldn’t you like to save a few hundred thousand dollars!

Should you spend hundreds of thousands on security guards or could you consider a 30k solution that can be used again on a second project halving the cost!

Richard Crookes Construction faced this exact problem on the Kensington Colleges Redevelopment University of New South Wales, Kensington, Sydney. The project involves the redevelopment of the three existing Kensington Colleges, the addition of two new buildings and University teaching space. Won in a competitive design tender with Richard Crookes Constructions, when completed it will provide accommodation for over 900 students at the University of New South Wales.

A Construction site being built on the grounds of the University of New South Wales had thousands of students as well as the general public every day moving past the construction site, Richard Crookes Construction needed a secure and safe way to not only keep the public safe but they also needed to keep the contractors safe and the construction process safe by keeping the public out.

Construction companies will face this issue at the start of every project. Find out how you can resolve these issues with a $30,000 solution, click here

What other benefits can come from a Turnstile Package on your construction site?

  • Use the Turnstile Package on a second location halving the cost of the solution over two projects
  • Get detailed electronic reporting of every person who enters and leaves your construction site
  • Add a vehicle tracking module to track every vehicle on and off your construction site
  • Turnstile package includes contractor management software, manage contractors licenses, inductions and much more
  • Manage unknown visitors easily with a touch screen self registration kiosk pushing sms messages to the host of the intended visitor.
