Contractors are a part of many businesses nowadays. They are highly essential for ensuring the various facilities and amenities that help our buildings, businesses, and people function. We all know this by now, and I’m sure none of us take their roles for granted. Equally important as appreciating their role, is taking the time to analyze how to ensure they aren’t taking your business for granted. Hello to all you contract managers and facility managers.
Managing Contractors on your location is hard enough, today many operations operate 24 hours a day 7 days a week, you cannot be there all the time. So we have compiled 10 reasons a contractor can be denied access to your location or locations no matter how many you have with Contractor Management Software.
I have recently received examples in the past few months from Facilities Managers, Construction Managers, IT Managers and Contractor Managers from shopping centers, construction sites to warehousing. Anywhere that you need to manage contractors you can benefit especially when you have hundreds or thousands of contractors to manage across multiple locations.
These 10 examples of denial of access for a contractor will certainly get you thinking about the power of the system……
1. The contractors company has failed to provide public liability insurance information or lacks insurance cover entirely.
2. They haven’t undergone induction training or failed said training.
3. The induction course they previously underwent has expired.
4. Based on your company’s code of conduct and health and safety procedures they are obligated to operate accordingly and appropriately. Violating these terms of agreement can result in having access revoked.
5. The contractor has not provided, or doesn’t hold the correct qualifications to carry out the job.
6. Is this contractor representing an approved company? Or are they inactive, banned, or pending with some form of further validation required?
7. The contractor showed up to do some unscheduled work.
8. Does the company’s contract extend to delivering services to this particular site? Perhaps their rights to this site are limited or expired.
9. The contractor appears not to match the photo ID stored in the system.
10. With the ability to more accurately reconcile contractor invoices with time spent on site, contractors may be barred from conducting business based on consistently false information.
