If you do not have a visitor management system in place, then at some point you are going to need to deal with uninvited visitors. What do you do if people wander into your place of business that you do not want there?
- Post a visitor policy – while all individuals may not abide by your demands that individuals that do not have business there remain outside the front doors, having a clearly posted policy may keep some visitors at bay. It can also make employees more accountable when it comes to ensuring your business’ policy to visitors is upheld.
- Ensure employees understand the policy – if you have a strict policy in place that could be accompanied by disciplinary procedures, employees will make more of a point to abide by your visitor management policy. If it is also part of employee policy to report unrecognized individuals that are on location, this can also encourage them.
- Have security available – if there is security in the building, use them to remove uninvited visitors. Otherwise, have a policy in place as to whom within your organization should be responsible for the evictions.
