When you rely upon contractors to perform a part of your business’ service, there are some issues that you should make every effort to prevent, in order to ensure that your clients are happy, the work is done on time, you remain on budget, and you deal with trustworthy people. Issues include:
- Not knowing when contractors are coming or going – if you do not have a system in place to validate when contractors are coming and going, how are you going to ensure that people are where they are supposed to be if they are working independently? Of course, in any business relationship, you need to trust that people are doing their jobs, but trust is also earned! Contractor management can help you keep tabs on where your contractors are, without having to hover.
- Contractors that do not keep track of supplies used or expenses – contractors that do not properly keep track of the supplies that they’ve used, or the costs of new products purchased can make it hard to focus on budgeting.
- Lack of attention to deadline – client satisfaction is always of the utmost importance, and if contractors are not focused on deadlines and milestone completion, than any job can run behind.
There are a number of ways to counteract the above problems, but the first step is awareness that these are issues that may occur with contractors.
