A job site is not a work location where visits should be taken lightly. They are many active hazards that can pose risks to individuals that are untrained to be at such a location. So when setting rules with regards to visitation policy, who should you allow on your job site?
- Clients – without a doubt, individuals that employ you will need to have the opportunity to visit and see the progress of what’s happening with the job. Ensure that they are invited at a time when someone can take them around the job site.
- Contractors – other contractors and delivery people may need to come on the site to deliver items or complete other jobs. These individuals are integral parts of any project and can’t be kept off job sites. However, they should not be left unsupervised either .
Site access to other types of visitors who do not really need to be at the location should be limited. To ensure that you know who has come and gone, also ensure that a contractor management system is used.
