When you setup a job site where construction is taking place, and there is heavy 
machinery, you need to be contentious of safety. What you may not realize is that your business is liable, not only for ensuring the safety of all contractors and staff onsite, but anyone who sets foot into the area.
Keep in mind that if any injuries occur to anyone on your job site, it may not jut be the Workman’s Compensation programs, and investigations you need to worry about; you may also find your business in legal trouble. This could mean a lawsuit, or you could be forced to seize operations.
In order to prevent any problems, ensure that you take the following steps with all visitors to a job site:
- Educate them on safe areas – areas that visitors are clear to visit should be marked. Before anyone steps on the site, they should also be educated on the boundaries.
- Ensure that they are escorted – all visitors on the site should be escorted by someone familiar with safety protocols.
- Provide the proper equipment – hard hats and steel-toed boots should be available to any individual that will be touring the job site to make sure that they are protected.
- Visitor ID cards should be handed out – anyone visiting the job site should be clearly identifiable. This means providing them with visitor ID cards.
- Educate on first aid – make sure that you have people trained to manage a situation should it arise. Even with the utmost precautions, something could still occur.
